ekphrasis: contest winners' edition booklet
Ekphrasis is an exercise in appreciating the complexities of another’s work of art & deriving from it a unique meaning, thus allowing the mind to roam within the confines of an unfamiliar portrait; ensnared & unbound.
For the contest, we asked creatives to pick between three prompts provided by each of the publications; Summer Night chosen by Swim Press, The Lost Tribe nominated by healthline zine, & The Cloudscent Journal's pick of Falling Star - all of which resonate individually with the magazines' ethos.
In this booklet, we present to you the six entries that spoke to us & our guest judges Ashley Hajimirsadeghi (poetry) & M. T. Khan (prose) the most, the ones that made us reconsider the original art, the ones that led us to question our worlds & the ways we exist within them.

healthline zine is run entirely by volunteers and does not profit from any issues we release, social media platforms we use, or anything else. we appreciate donations in order to upgrade our website, invest in graphic design tools to make the next issue even better than this one, and one day, pay staff and contributors.
You'll get six of the most phenomenal pieces of writing Swim Press, Cloudscent, and healthline have ever read in a gorgeous 46-page issue.
